'Janet'

$18.00

'Janet' is a 'Fortunei Hycinthina' mutation. It grows to 24" in diameter and 14" tall. The leaves are 6"x4" with 8 veins, cordate, flat and albescent. The center turns from gold to nearly white as the summer progresses if the plant is in the sun. Its 32" scapes are flat, foliated and straight with medium, funnel-shaped lavender flowers, which are not very fertile. The gold-centered leaves make a medium mound. The leaves have only average substance and the plant is sometimes confused with 'Gold Standard', which has similar coloration but is much larger. It is a rapid grower, and it has 3 notable sports of its own: 'Janet Day', 'Lakeside Shadows', and 'White Lightning'. The late Russ O'Harra registered it in 1981.
